In November 2020, the European Commission (EC) published, after a round of open consultations, an Action plan on Integration and Inclusion. While this document is non-binding, it sets up a lot of mechanisms for the now-current policy period 2021-2027. It is more comprehensive than the previous EC strategy on integration as it includes not only migrants but also EU citizens with a migrant background. It also takes into account the different stages of the integration process and provides different methods for every stage.
